Discovering Sandridge in the Exhibition Room, Museum of St Albans
This photograph was taken at the opening of the "Discovering Sandridge" exhibition in 2014 Link
My contribution was a painting of Sandridge parish church from before the 19th century restoration Link and a picture of Jacob Reynolds and family. Link (Jacob Reynolds was the church warden in Sandridge who was responsible for "Sandridge New Town" and the establishment of St Saviour's Church.)

The Museum of St Albans
The Foundation Stone was laid on 20th July 1898, on land given by Earl Spencer, and it was erected using "red bricks of local make" [made by Jacob Reynolds of Bernards Heath]. It was opened in November 1899 and originally referred to as the County Museum.
In addition to good permanent displays the museum ran special exhibitions on local topics.
During the summer of 2015 the exhibits were packed away prior to a move to a new site, in the former city Town Hall, in 2017.
The doors of the Museum finally closed on Sunday, 20th September 2015. Link
The site will be converted to residential use and the plan is that the building itself will be retained.
