Keepers Pool is one of seven such in the present-day Sutton Park. Created by John Holte during the 12th century it was originally intended to be a supply of fish and power for mills. It remained in private ownership until 1879 when it was bought by the Corporation of Sutton Coldfield. In 1887 a lido was built but this succumbed to vandalism in 2003. Previously allowed, swimming in the pool was banned in 2003/4 for health and safety reasons. This photo was taken on the day of a social walk for staff and volunteers of the Ramblers Get Walking Keep Walking Birmingham Project - lunch followed at the Toby Carvery in the Park. Time photo taken 12.27 pm BST (British Summer Time).
