TQ6987 : Bridleway in Langdon Nature Reserve
taken 12 years ago, near to Langdon Hills, Essex, England
The Langdon nature reserve is the largest inland reserve managed by Essex Wildlife Trust. There are 2 main areas, east and west, separated by the High Road.
The eastern section is composed of Hoppit Shaw, Mark's Hill and Willow Park.
The western section is composed of Dunton Plotlands, which features a small museum in a 1930's bungalow, and Lincewood.
Lincewood is close to Hall Wood, which is part of Thurrock's Langdon Hills Country Park.
The name "Langdon" means "long hill" and there is a hilly ridge, 100m high, which extends from Dunton to Vange and from which there are interesting views of the Thames Estuary and the surrounding area.
