taken 12 years ago, near to Adlington, Cheshire East, England

Adlington Railway Station
Adlington Railway Station
A southbound Northern Rail service train leaves Adlington Station towards Macclesfield and Stoke.

The train is an ex-British Rail Class 323 electric multiple unit (EMU) Forty-three of these 3-car units were built for inner-suburban services around Birmingham and Manchester. These trains were the last vehicles to be built by the struggling manufacturer Hunslet TPL before it collapsed (LinkExternal link ). They were amongst the last trains constructed in the UK prior to rail privatisation.
