SD1889 : A boulder on Barrow
taken 11 years ago, near to Duddon Bridge, Cumbria, England
A boulder on Barrow
Barrow (277m) is a small hill south of the Corney Fell road. It has two summits and is a rugged and interesting little fell - it's a wonder that it never featured in Wainwright's 'Outlying Fells' guide. This large boulder was probably dumped here by a melting glacier at the end of the last ice age. Northwards are the higher fells of Buckbarrow (left) and Whitfell both of which did feature in Wainwright's guide.
