"Clairville Stadium is a multi purpose athletics facility consisting of a floodlit 400-metre 7-lane synthetic athletics track, hard surface throwing area suitable for special needs athletes with facilities for field events situated in the centre oval. In addition Clairville hosts Active gym and associated changing facilities and Multi purpose hall. Clairville also has an indoor activity space, which provides a variety of adult and junior fitness classes, children's parties, and casual soft play sessions."
The stadium is the former training ground of Olympic athletes Jonathan Edwards and Chris Tomlinson and received a £800,000 make over in 2006. But in 2013 the stadium is due to be demolished and the 4.25 hectare site sold off. A new state-of-the-art "regional sports village" is proposed at Prissick. There are doubts whether the new track will be anywhere near the standard of Clairville.
Until about 2004 Clairville boosted a banked cycling velodrome but this was rendered unusable when a section was removed. Was this a decision made in order to reduce the value of the stadium?
