SO8456 : W.C.F.C. ground (15) - seating in the Main Stand, St. George's Lane North, Worcester
taken 12 years ago, near to Worcester, Worcestershire, England
A few days after this series of photographs were taken, Worcester City Football Club played their last home game at the ground. It has been sold for redevelopment as housing and demolition is expected to take place in June 2013. For the next year or so, the club is to ground share with Kidderminster Harriers Football Club at their Aggborough ground in Kidderminster. It is hoped that eventually the W.C.F.C. will return to a new ground in Worcester.
The club was formed on the 9th September 1902, following the liquidation of another local side, Berwick Rangers. The capacity of the ground is 4,523 of whom 1,121 can be seated. It is true to say that the ground has seen better days and no doubt an awful lot of money would have been needed to update it. The club currently plays in Conference North also known as Blue Square Bet North.
A few of these photographs were taken of the exterior of the ground but most were taken inside, with the kind permission of club staff.
