The bus lane is not the usual rush-hour traffic restriction, but to enable buses (and no other traffic) to use the slip road off the A102 to get onto the roundabout at the Woolwich Road junction. All other traffic has to take a long diversion via Westerdale Road, Coombedale Road, Woolwich Road, Denham Road and Tunnel Avenue - 700m instead of 130m!
