Glastonbury - Glastonbury Abbey
Glastonbury - Glastonbury Abbey
Glastonbury has been a site of worship for over 1400 years, The first Abbey was built around the year 600 and was destroyed by fire in 1184 and was rebuilt.
Today's ruins date from 1184 and are in a ruined state thanks to Henry VIII and his Dissolution of the Monasteries in 1539. The Abbey was used by the local population as a source of building stone and it was slowly demolished.
