Oak coppice near Hungerfield Farm
In the past oak was coppiced both for timber and for its bark. The bark was employed in the manufacture of leather from animal hides — tanning; the bark has a high tannin content. The coppice in summer is seen in SP1667 : Heart of England Way near Hungerfield Farm.
