View NW from the footbridge leading into the Depot. A relative outsider in this stronghold of the former LNWR, ex-GW 4-6-0 No. 4986 'Aston Hall' (built 1/31, withdrawn 5/62) is passing on the Down Through No. 1 line. GW locomotives, which worked into Crewe on the line from Wellington via Nantwich were normally serviced at Gresty Lane Depot to the SW of Crewe station, but this one seems to be visiting the LMS (ex-LNW) Crewe North Depot.
