NS3778 : Small mushrooms on Sphagnum moss

taken 16 years ago, near to Renton, West Dunbartonshire, Scotland

Small mushrooms on Sphagnum moss
Small mushrooms on Sphagnum moss
I originally took this to be a lichenised fungus, Lichenomphalia umbellifera (sometimes listed as Omphalina ericetorum). The stems of the small mushrooms were certainly rooted amongst green algal granules on the stems of the Sphagnum mosses.

However, the examples in my picture lack some of the features that are normally present in L. umbellifera, and I am therefore leaving the identification open.
