taken 19 years ago, near to Elton, Nottinghamshire, England

Elton and Orston Station
Elton and Orston Station
One of a string of tiny village stations on the Nottingham to Grantham line. The local trains are usually only two carriages and you pay the conductor when you get on. This is what most of Britain's rail system was like before the Beeching cuts.

Photograph taken from the road bridge just in the next square. The grid line between the photographer position and the featured square crosses just at the end of the platform and the track enters SK7739 just about where the trees end in the centre of the picture.
