Fairy Coves
These were described as circular excavations or cells near the north-east end of the Medieval town wall. They were said to be about 5 ft in diameter and about 12 ft above the shore, interconnected to allow human movement. They were presumably man-made, perhaps used as places of concealment and security. The site is now occupied by the modern sea-wall and promenade and only the place-name can be seen locally. Link
