Belfairs Academy is a non-selective secondary school that opened as Belfairs High School in 1955. The present buildings date from 2011.

This is the junction of Marine Parade and Herschell Road (the house with the attractive tower on the corner). A path to the right leads down a long flight of steps to Leigh Station.

Taken from Flemming Avenue looking west. Prittle Brook, a short tributary of the River Roach rising near Thundersley, forms a shallow valley through this part of Leigh.
