This is the site of the first Transatlantic radio transmissions in 1901 and is now home to a museum. For the mast in front, I don't know if this is historic, but the fibreglass aerial on the top is fairly modern. For more information... (more)

The first transatlantic radio transmissions were made from aerials in the field adjacent to this museum. On the day of our visit the weather was very threatening, hence the dark clouds, which rather complemented the grey museum building.

The monument was erected in 1937 to mark the transmission of the first transatlantic radio message (in 1901) from the nearby Poldhu Wireless Station (demolished in 1937). The SW Coast Path runs past it.
