Former Post Office & General Stores (I'm assuming, by the size of the building). The A32 was the "Portsmouth Road" out of Chawton, and the Mail Coach would have passed this point.

I bet this was once a public house
This is at the junction of Brightstone Lane and Gosport Road. The blackboard sign directs the traveller to the "Rose and Crown" half a mile away.
It seems my supposition was wrong - see Link.
