Wolvesnewton church was in the words of Pevsner 'drastically restored' in 1855-7 by John Norton; it is dedicated to St Thomas à Becket. The churchyard is dominated by a large medieval preaching cross which also serves as a war memorial.

Apparently the building, which I took to be a barn, was actually an old wayside inn, called 'The Fox & Hounds'.
