Track providing access to farmland on what was during WWII RAF Southrop, it was a relief landing ground and by November 1947 the site had been returned to agriculture.

There were two single Norcon pillboxes on the SW site of the WW2 airfield; these are the remnants of the one which was situated to the north of the enclosure. Another was situated to the NE of the airfield in Horseshoe Wood, see SP1803 : Norcon pillbox, former RAF Southrop, Horseshoe Wood.

Sheep pasture now but between 1940 and 1947 this was a relief landing ground known as RAF Southrop used by Oxford and Harvard training aircraft. Records indicate that this large flat area east of Cirencester proved an ideal grass landing strip.
