Black Edge is a hill/moorland top rising to 507m, north of the town of Buxton. As can be seen in this view from the south there's an OS trig point at the highest location which lies a few metres into in another grid square.

Note the bank of mist which has blown eastwards across the moor and settled over Dove Holes. The Kinder Plateau is still just about visible above the cloud line.

A desolate moorland plateau which does not appear to have any routes across it. The only paths follow the edges from where this view is taken.

Sitting just outside The Peak District National Park, Dove Holes remains an important centre for limestone quarrying. You can see the huge Dove Holes Quarry just beyond the village.
