I was walking along the Cefn Road (old drove road now footpath). The cattle were interested in my progress but did not come for a closer look. Beyond is the Black Mountains ridge, with Hay Bluff SO2436 on the right.

The stile leads off the open access land onto a bridleway to the remains of Craswall Priory. The bridleway technically only starts at the fence; presumably that is the reason there is no gate.
