Though this area of Twyning is called Twyning Green on the OS map, Twyning Green is the triangular piece of land between Twyning School and the Village Inn (SO901367). The common land in these two pictures is part of Brockeridge Common, most of which is to the north of the
M50, the motorway cut off this small part of the common, south of the motorway. The line of Horse Chestnut trees down each side of the road were planted in the 1970s and replaced an earlier mature avenue of trees which were felled many years ago. This earlier avenue and the old lane were much longer, the road was truncated by the building of the motorway junction, originally the old road and avenue reached the A38 at the point where the
M50 motorway bridge now crosses the A38. Incidently, one of the chestnut trees on this common, I planted myself, I transplanted it to the common when it became too big for the garden, after having grown it from a conker.
