Steep mountain slope beside old quarry
The steep grassy slope is on a northern ridge of Caudale Moor rising to or above Rough Edge. The shattered rock waste with old rails are remnants of the workings of Caudale Quarry which took stone from the eastern face of the ridge.... (more)

Abandoned Rails and Pipe, Caudale Quarry

Access to this extensive slate quarry was by a very steep track from Sykeside which has left scars on the slope. It ceased to operate in 1934 when 24 men were employed, 10 below ground the rest on the surface.
