NJ3761 : Fruits of the Forest by Mark Walton Fruits of the Forest
A lucky find on a long walk, These raspberries were spotted in Beldornie Hillocks.
NJ3761 : Tynet Chapel by Alan Murray-Rust Tynet Chapel
The fact that it looks like a row of cottages is no coincidence. It is the earliest surviving purpose built Catholic chapel following the Reformation and used an existing cottage as a starting point. Built 1755 with subsequent renovations,... (more)
NJ3761 : Drain with Foam by Anne Burgess Drain with Foam
This is one of several small burns just marked on the map as 'Drain'. It has obviously been running fast and furious because it has whipped up foam, but it was not doing a very effective job. Looking downstream.
NJ3761 : Auchenhalrig by Ralph Greig Auchenhalrig

NJ3761 : Cottage at Auchenhalrig by Anne Burgess Cottage at Auchenhalrig
A pretty cottage by the rough road through Auchenhalrig. The name on the post by the gate is St Athens.
NJ3761 : Boggy Path by Anne Burgess Boggy Path
It's hardly any distance from Auchenhalrig to Newlands of Tynet, but it was very wet, and we had to pick our way slowly and carefully round wobbly tussocks, slippery banks and aspiring ponds.
NJ3761 : Woodview by Anne Burgess Woodview
This building is interesting because you can see that it has been built of rounded stones which probably came from the River Spey. This is fairly common in old buildings locally, but not often seen because such buildings tend to be covered... (more)
NJ3761 : Watery Road by Anne Burgess Watery Road
The puddle across the road was the final soaking of our feet, as there was no way round it without making a huge detour. The ditch on the left looked very deep!
NJ3761 : Old Building at Auchenhalrig by Anne Burgess Old Building at Auchenhalrig
It is interesting to speculate on the original use of this building. Was the upper floor intended as a hayloft? Or was it a 'chaumer' or bothy where the unmarried male farm servants slept? See also NJ3761 : Is it a Barn? and NJ3761 : Is it a Barn?.
