This is the same path as [SE3304 : Footpath along the Worsbrough boundary, Barnsley. Presumably there was a level crossing before the railway was closed.

On the Trans Pennine / Dove Valley Trail near Hound Hill Lane. This path was built as a railway to Silkstone Moor End, and later became part of the electrified Woodhead line, closing in 1981.
