It is considered highly likely that the two features are associated.

This appears to be the fallen capstone belonging to the largest of the five putative chamber tombs here. As the most northerly it would have had the pre-eminent view towards Pen Dinas.

The visual relationship of Cerrig y Gof with Pen Dinas to the northwest and Mynydd Carningli to the southeast (seen here on the skyline just to the right of the middle telegraph pole) is likely to have been significant to its siting.
