The Loop, Salisbury Racecourse
The course is partly straight with a pear shaped loop. Bends on the course are tight and the finishing straight is uphill. Races of up to one mile in distance are run on the straight part of the course.

The drove continues as a chalky track between high hedges. Old drovers' roads were once used to drive cattle to market. The heyday of droving was in the early 19th century but it disappeared rapidly with the advent of the railways.... (more)
