Lying in the shadows of the north facing slope it links the bridleway from Hobb's Hawth to Alfriston with another footpath at the foot of France Bottom where it then climbs France Hill.

The southern slope of this crescent-shaped bottom which curves around to the right.

The bottom curves north westwards around the base of France Hill at the point where the footpath from White Way turns ninety degrees and heads up the hill. The early winter afternoon sun is now too low to light up this part of the world.
