Carves an impressive ravine, rarely visited.

Impressive Gill. Most of the big Ash trees in the Gill had been used as nests for large birds. Trees are at a premium on Roundthwaite Common

Hanging onto the rock at nearly 1200' up the old Ash has recently had its top blown off

If you are watching T. V. in Low Borrowdale Farm one dark night don't offer to go and adjust the aerial.

These are close to an old wood and wire enclosure and may be surplus to requirements although perching birds seem to like them.

Roundthwaite Common as seen from close to the summit of Belt Howe. Winterscleugh is behind Roundthwaite Common, cloud-shadowed and a little higher.

The bridleway which climbs from low Borrowdale to the col between Roundthwaite Common and Belt Howe gets pretty vague on the ground and the GPS indicates that this path is not on the route marked on the OS 1:25000 map which is somewhere off... (more)
