Gosh, I forgot how graphic this was. Right after reading about lobsters, teas and woman in 1800s; getting into this book was like a huge shock. Right upfront, there was a big graphic rape scene which was always a difficult read, and especially today.
It was a really bumpy and bloody ride. Some scenes were almost like a scene from the Saw movies. These people ain't normal and qouting from the book, "it's about the survival of the worst people". It's true and it's not pretty.
That doesn't mean I don't enjoy the depravity in this one. Just get yourself in a proper headspace, then you'll probably enjoy it as much as l did. Though, I still kinda like the previous couple more. This one was just okay. ...more

In retrospect, the first 15% was the best part of it. It'll be fun, they said. It'll be so cute, they said. The best Tessa Dare, they said.
Well... okay.
In retrospect, the first 15% was the best part of it. The whole pen pal thing is one of my favourite trope in historical romance (i.e. Love in the Afternoon). So, I have a blast with that one.
The rest however, an absolute bore. I don't like Logan, and his initial approach to getting the land. I don't like his reasoning to why he decided to marry her, or the whole she left him for dead part. How is that supposed to be her fault again? I don't like the needless underdeveloped part to why these characters were hurt/broken in the past. I found it unnecessary at some part. Some people are deathly shy by default. Sometimes they even contradict themselves. 'Oh, I won't fall in love with you but I'll make sure to compliment and charm you everyday to make sure you'll love me'. Yeah, that's some bullshit I ain't gonna commit today, bitch.
All in all, it was a fine okay book. It could be better but that's not going to mean I'm gonna stop finding that one Tessa Dare that's gonna resonate something in me.
P.s. I do love Grant. He's my favourite character. ...more

Since the my shock value was decreased from the previous instalment, this book was a little bit weaker compared to the first one. As per usual, I loved it when they kill/torture people together (and that's not weird, okay? No judgement.)
Anyhow, if you're bored with happy-rainbow-puppies-equivalent contemporary romance, definitely would recommend this. Of course, if you're okay with graphically depicted torture scenes....more

That wasn't as bad as I thought. Huh.
Sure, the world around these characters were bleak as hell, especially if you're a woman.
Case in examples:
"When God created the earth he created Man in his image. Not woman. When God rained down a flood lasting forty days and forty nights, did he task a woman to build his arc? No, he didn’t. He tasked Noah, A man. And when he sent down his offspring to save the earth, did he send his silly daughter? No, he sent his son. “Men are the rulers of this Earth, and it is our job to take back our ownership. It’s time we take back what belongs to us out of the hands of inferiority. It’s high time we teach these cunts who is the boss!"
"You exist solely for the pleasure of men. As a woman, there are certain inalienable truths- the biggest of all, is that you are inferior. The world outside of these walls may believe in equality but they are wrong. My dog has more rights than you and he is nothing but a mutt, but he is male and superior to you."
See? Fucked up. The worst nightmare for any feminist.
However, it wasn't boring! I was hooked and entertained by this cult (maybe entertained was the wrong word, horrified is more apt). And that's a HUGE plus for me. It's just that I believe there is a target readers for this sort of book and amazingly, I'm in this demography....more

We were lost inside this jungle where cannibalism, murder and incest were common; following a girl who's hell bent on revenge.
I am the monster they created. I’m the whore they’re ashamed of. They took my heaven away. Now, I would bring them hell.
Needless to say, this book is exactly what I'm looking for. It was fucked up, torture galore, gory, bloody and freaking hot. No one in this book is pure, naive or kind. The male lead is cruel, sadistic, possessive and overall crazy. The girl was no different. The chemistry of craziness was off the chart with these two characters. Like real crazy. Like being a duo in killing a priest crazy.
And what I really love about them is how unapologetic they were.
She was mine. I wasn’t letting her go even when it was all said and done and she hated my fucking guts—because she would. That was inevitable. I destroyed everything good that I touched. She’d just have to hate me with her pussy sitting on my face.

As far for the story goes, it was okay but I only lived for the Roth moments. The plot... was still kinda unsatisfying. I want a big bomb to shake their world and more action, less going on dates and movies stuff. ...more

With that said, I had a different idea to what this book would be and surprisingly this book didn't held up. It wasn't as truly gory as any of Yolanda Olson or Emery LeeAnn's crazy works; or as strangely addictive as R.I.P.. It was an okay book. At least you still have someone to root for in this one. Kinda.

Okay, now let's talk about this beautiful amazing gem I have in my hand. I love every sentence in this 150 pages book. It's simply executed and yet I freaking love everything about it. You have only five characters in this book. FIVE. Yet each one of them played their role in progressing the story much better than a complicated twisted ass story.
This is the story of friends into lovers, interconnected with this cute sweet moments of fragility and delicateness towards them. Oliver is autistic and has feelings for Olivia ever since they were kids. Olivia too shared the same feeling but timing was a bitch and now she wants to have a baby. Oliver found out and drama/hilarity ensues!
Oliver and Olivia are completely perfect for each other. Oliver and his own type of expressing himself. Olivia and her own selflessness and love. I want to be their friends and watch them grow together.

It started very slow for me. I thought this book would be about Taylor and the kids new life in Montana, how they're adapting from life in England to the wilderness but it was more about the journey to Montana.
Hence why the last 30% of the book was my favourite. The kids were exhausting and hilarious. Taylor and Lucas focussed more on their relationship and homemaking (my favv). It was just so sweet....more
