Ohh I loved this! I've always been curious about Shakespeares stories but just find I am unable to understand his style of writing. Much like Charles Dickens. So whenever I find them translated into a children's book, I grab them.
I've heard about the story of Hamlet now and then over the years but never could grasp the storyline. This book makes it so easy to read, understand and enjoy the famous tale of Hamlet.
I can see why it's so popular. The story involves quite a lot of death so that is something to be aware of if you have a sensitive child. But otherwise I would most definitely recommend this. I wish that all of Shakespeare's work was rewritten for Children and us Adults who still can't grasp the original work.

It's not the same as as Disney's short movie version which I appreciated.
One thing I did notice was the absence of Tiny Tim. Maybe Disney thought that would be too sad, but come on, Disney doesn't shy away from gut wrenching depressing scenes. (I swear The Lion King and Dumbo have left deep emotional scars in me).
A quick easy read with great illustrations. Would definitely recommend....more

Only downside is that it was too short.
Garfield and I are always going to have a great time together. I couldn't find a better character if I tried. He is probably my absolute all time favourite character. Smart assed, sarcastic (aren't they the same thing?) Hilarious, and tries to do everything the lazy way.
I can never get enough of these books and hope they keep being made....more
This shows it takes a lot for me to give out 5 stars rating. I don't even know how this could be better to get it to that mark from me. This b4 stars.

I always appreciate when a well known classic has been retold in an easy to read kids version. So when I saw this I knew I wanted to read it. I find the original adult versions rather difficult to take in.
Jane Eyre is one rare classic I actually managed to finish in the original text. So I am able to compare the two. I found this version was well told. It includes enough basics of the story and I think kids will enjoy it.
What I wasn't keen on were the illustrations. The illustrations themselves just weren't for me. I do like that they were kept basic to match the story. As in, the story is simplified down to the basics and you could say the illustrations were too. I would have just prefered them to be a bit more detail and not have that rushed look.
So now I have it in 4 different paperbacks, 1 leather bound book, 1 picture book and now a Graphic NoveJust, you know, my FAVOURITE story of all time!

As you may know, I absolutely adore The Secret Garden and have many versions of the story, so to see it as a Graphic Novel to add to my collection, of course I was going to grab it if I could.
While I tried to keep in mind that I had to keep my high love for this at bay and base my thoughts from a non bias place, I did find it tricky. But I still stand by my thoughts on this. 3.5 stars from me means that it is slightly better than 'Good/I enjoyed it.'
From the beginning it felt too choppy. I feel that it needed more of the storyline added into make more sense of what was happening. But further into the book, I got into the flow of it and it seems that the main points and a few bonus ones, did find their way into the pages.
It did end up making me feel the magic of the story which I wasn't sure it was going to, so I was pleased by this.
The illustrations I warmed up to and I'll admit, I wasn't a fan right away but enjoyed them by the end.
As this is targeted probably at a Middle Grade level, or as a first introduction to the classic story, it's quite good for that. It gives you the basic storyline and a feel for why all of us out there, love this story so much.
The added touch at the end of the book, where there is information on the original author, was really welcomed. I would like to buy an actual copy of this and would recommend it to all....more
