I was actually recommended this book by someone I know in real life and did see in mentioned on TikTok and thought I'd give it a try. I personally felt like it was a pretty subpar story. Heavy on romance but also didn't feel entirely into these characters so it was something I was reading to push through.

I’ve been reading more fantasy then I have in a while and specific to it being more along the romance side. With that being said this truly stood out to me.
The world itself has many layers ones that I did have to check myself in on at times with the very helpful glossary in the back but once I reached a certain percentage the picture became so much clearer. Still the glossary was very needed and extremely helpful. The world created is wide and spans in directions I’m curious to where we go with it as the series continues.
The characters UGH. From our main to secondary to ones we will potentially explore more in the books to come it was so refreshing how vivid they came off the page. The way I cried for the first time in I couldn’t tell you how long based on certain moments, dialogue, and relationships in this book. That’s when you know you got me. When my little cry baby heart comes out for these fictional characters that make me feel they are anything but fictional.
The romance was just UGH. I loved the pacing and the connection as a whole. It was just so good to read and by the time we got to the ending had me immediately get the second book.
Speaking of the ending. What the actual fuck??? The way I was jumping around in my bed, to crying, to silent screaming, to being shocked as hell. That’s a way to conclude a book that already had me on the edge of my feet.
I have no other words to say besides definitely a memorable read, definitely a favorite of this year, and I am currently starting the next one even though I have work tomorrow.

Kept me up until 3 am (even though I had to wake up at 7am) because I just couldn’t stop.
The multiple POVS added so much to the story and were woven in such an intricate way. The ending I was sobbing for some reason certain parts towards the end with the parallels just got me.

My favorite thing has to be the different elements and layers the story has as it spans the 3 books. It was entertaining at times, made me laugh so hard it even surprised me, had me sobbing over a mutual feeling of grief, and had me up into the late hours of the night just to see what was going to happen next. I was able to dig deep into a story when in reality I have not truly been able to for awhile.

Since I know it has been compared and marketed as this generations Twilight, I can see where they are coming from! Crave varies with a paranormal school dynamic and a mystery plot element but still upholds that teen angst and the insta lust that Twilight possessed.
While it wasn't perfect, I think this is a great start to an interesting series featuring vampires, dragons, witches, and more!!

Overall, it had the potential to have the trope of a villain love interest but the build up to the romance seemed underdeveloped, on-top of a boring plot.

It's hard to say what I want to give this book because I have so many thoughts but for now I'm going to give it a 4/5 could move it to a 3.5 but who knows.
With it being my first Holly Black book I'm excited to read more in this series and potienially other books from her. Although I've read many books featuring the Fae, I enjoy the way Holly Black executed the Fae aspect with the world and their characteristics. Even the other mythical creatures in the world. I loved our main character and really enjoyed her character development. Even the secondary characters seeing their own personalities and how they had a huge role in the story was extremely interesting. Even enjoyed hating a few of them at some points.
Now, this book is split into book 1 and book 2. In all honestly I felt the second half was way stronger. First half had world building, character introuducing, and other features (that I loved reading about) but there was a point where I felt almost like it was a mash up of all different books put into one and it wasn't really interesting me anymore. It wasn't until the end of book 1 progressing into book 2 where I could really see the potential of the overall series (not sure how many books there going to be).
Overall, I will be continuing onto the sequel whenever it comes out because the ending definitely had me wanting more but I wasn't absolutely in love with this book like I assumed I was going to be....more

FINALLY got to reading the sequel to Born Sinner, a book that I really pleasantly was suprised by how much I enjoyed it! I didn't enjoy this as much as the first book (happens more than you think) when it comes to series but I will be finishing the series especially since the 4th book was released yesterday.
These books fly by for me. It's so easy to get lost in the characters, the world, and the plot. This time around we got to see a lot more of the world which I very much enjoyed. I still wished we got to really get a feel for specific characters but in the book I found myself enjoying Eden more and more. The twists and turns S.L. Jennings has in this series gets me everytime and I cannot wait to see what else there is to come.
Going to get started on the 3rd book now, wish me luck!!

Compared to the first book this was even better. I totally forgot how entertaining these characters are and how engaging the story is. This book/ series I find goes by super quick and is effortless to get into. Highly recommend if you love aliens or are looking for a book/series to get you out of a reading slump.
I also appreciated how in this book, more things were clarified and by the end, I felt, even more, connect to these characters. Just like the first book, certain moments had me LOLing out loud. I love how Kendra Saunders does humor within her story.
