After surviving an infamous family tragedy, sixteen-year-old Kennedy Jones has made it her mission to keep her brother's search through the cosmos alive. But then something disturbs the frequency on his radio telescope--a pattern registering where no signal should transmit.

In a neighboring county, seventeen-year-old Nolan Chandler is determined to find out what really happened to his brother, who disappeared the day after Nolan had an eerie premonition. There hasn't been a single lead for two years, until Nolan picks up an odd signal--a pattern coming from his brother's bedroom.

Drawn together by these strange signals--and their family tragedies--Kennedy and Nolan search for the origin of the mysterious frequency. But the more they uncover, the more they believe that everything's connected--even their pasts--as it appears the signal is meant for them alone, sharing a message that only they can understand. Is something coming for them? Or is the frequency warning them about something that's already here?

🌟🌟🌟🌟

This was crazy different and a lot of fun to read.

In Come Find Me, we follow MC's Kennedy and Nolan. Two teenagers-both whom which have experienced great tragedy, find themselves drawn together by a strange signal. Together, they try to find the source of the mysterious signal.

The more they try to find it, the more clues they find things that seem to connect their pasts. The signal seems to be for them alone, something only they both can understand. Who is out there? Is something coming for them? Or is the frequency warning them about something that's already here?

I was totally not expecting something with a Stranger things vibe to it, but it has that vibe- in a small way which added so much more to the story.

I really liked Kennedy, she was brave and strong willed. She has dealt with a lot of pain in her life but that wont stop her from getting answers. Nolan is dealing with the same thing. Both characters, as they work together- experience a good bit of growth. Each one was there for one another and only made the other stronger.

I had no idea where this book was headed and I spent half the book scratching my head. I like when a mystery/thriller ends up stumping me. I was pleasantly surprised with the outcome and totally recommend it!

Holy guacamole Batman!! I think it’s safe to say I have another author I can add to my favorites! Miranda has a way of writing that I love!

The mysteries and intrigue of this book had me hooked in the first 2 chapters. Kennedy Jones is a teenage girl who has lost her mother, and potential stepfather in one night and believes her brother is responsible.

In the next county over, Nolan Chandler is searching for his missing brother along with their parents and some volunteers.

A mysterious signal, one from a space satellite and one from an EMF detector brings the two together in a chat forum. The two begin working on this signal to discover what it is, why they’re receiving the signal in two unusual ways and how it’s related to each of their tragedies.

They solve the mysteries of the signal but you have to read the book to discover the what and why for yourself!! It’s definitely worth the read and it’s not as supernatural as aliens and ghosts!

I don't know if I'm going to bother with a real review because I'm feeling lazy and don't have a lot to say and I'm just posting this because I HATE with all of my dark passion the fact that Goodreads keeps telling me that I'm 2 books behind on my reading challenge. I know, I know, already! I am reading as fast as I freaking can!

I requested this from Overdrive thinking it was another secret filled thriller about awful people doing awful things - as they usually do but that wasn't this book. I doubt I even read the blurb because the cover fooled me so much. Doesn't it look like one of those types of books? Is it just me?

Anyhow, this one does have secrets but it's a young adult novel about two teens whose lives have been shattered by tragic events and there's a signal (aliens!? I was hoping for aliens or at least a visit from Fox Mulder) that calls to them and tells them things and also brings them together. They have two mysteries to solve and fall in love during the process. It was decently written and engaging enough on audio and the dual narrators did great work but it wasn't quite the book I thought it was going to be and it didn't connect with me on an emotional level which is strange considering the tragedies hanging over both of their lives. I felt no feelings which is a shame. There was also way too much going on and it got bogged down and was a wee bit of mess there for a bit. One mystery would've been plenty. Thus it's getting a three from the likes of me.

Kennedy Jones and Nolan Chandler do not know each other but are bound to the same fate. Both are suffering from unbearable family tragedies, both discover unnerving links between these seemingly unrelated misfortunes, and both are the only individuals to believe in these mysterious and inexplicable signs.

I have recently listened to a number of Megan Miranda audiobooks and all have proven reliable listens with engaging story-lines and narratives that feel both easy to digest but with enough intrigue to keep me interested until the final chapter. This is an author that has quickly become one I can rely on for comfort...which isn't a word I would usually associate with thrillers. I can't accurately describe why, but something about the structure of her stories, the compelling story-lines, and the narrators used to voice them (in this instance Jorjeana Marie and Michael Crouch) feels dependable and pleasantly engaging.

This was the first book I read on vacation. I didn’t realize it was YA when I put it on hold. It turned out to be a decent, easy read...so perfect for vacation but ultimately a little forgettable. The ending was a bit of a stretch. 3.5 stars

One of my favorite authors + Stranger Things? I AM CRYING, AND I NEED THIS NOW. Is it too early to start a countdown for 2019?

Megan Miranda proves yet again she is a killer writing, and this was just the goodness I was looking for. A couple of minor issues that knocked it down to a 4 crown. Review coming closer to the release date!

There’s a white line zigzagging across the sky, the trail of an airplane.
But I’m starting to think there’s a crack running through the whole universe and I’m the only one who sees it.

Believe it or not, this book left me petrified.
In a world where I came to consider Megan Miranda's bloody and twisty novels as my #1 comfort thriller books, I actually had to take set down my Kindle and take a deep breath after finishing this.
Yes, because while this book may be advertised as a YA thriller with a side serving of sci-fi, it's much more than this and it certainly comes with a lot of aftermath thinking.
It kind of reminds me of We Are the Ants, to be honest, and I'm not complaining at all since it's one of my favorite books.
In Come Find Me, two tragedies bring together Kennedy, Nolan, their respective PTSD and an eerie mystery that needs to be solved. Miranda's writing is perfect to set the dark, synthetic and chilly tones that accompany the whole novel, and the way she portraits the two teenagers is both relatable and remarkable.
The thing I love the most about this book, aside from the exquisite writing, is the characterization of the entire cast of characters.
I read some other reviews and I agree that the mystery/thriller factor kind of fell off a bit toward the end, but I don't find it in me to consider it penalizing because the emotion I got from this book went way past and beyond the plot.

Most people see something, some evidence, and then they believe. But I think maybe it's the other way around. Maybe you believe first, and then it changes you, so you can see what else is possible.

book #28

this hashtag is something I self-indulgently created for fun when I decided to thin out my immense tbr list as a new years resolution starting from books I added on GR back in 2017/2018/2019, and since I can't seem to do anything quietly and I'm well known for being an overachiever, I had to go and turn it into an official thing. Feel free to check out the shelf with the same name if you don't mind keeping up with this insanely over-hyped adventure I got myself into. Take it as a chance to rediscover some books from a few years ago that might have accidentally flown under your radar, or to simply share with another fellow reader your very own reading experience. Happy reading and stay penguin-y!

Kennedy Jones has survived a horrible family tragedy. She now lives with her 29-year-old uncle, Joe, and monitors her brother Elliott's radio telescope. Elliott was focused on looking for alien life, so when Kennedy finds a pattern on her brother's telescope, she thinks it might be a sign. Meanwhile, nearby, Nolan Chandler's older brother Liam disappeared two years ago--the day after Nolan had a weird premonition about his disappearance. His parents have become obsessed with the case and those of missing kids in general. They have basically forgotten about their child left behind. When Nolan finds an odd signal in his brother's room, he too wonders if it's a sign. The two signals draw together Nolan and Kennedy. They begin to wonder how things are connected. Or, are they being warned off by a strange force instead?

"The brother tells them, with an air of inevitability, that Liam is gone. No, they say, he's with Colby. He's out for a job, He'll be back soon. The premonition tingles like static electricity. The boy and the dog are never seen again."

Megan Miranda is an author where I'll read whatever she writes. The topic of this book is slightly bizarre, but it's a completely compelling and fascinating read. I read it in less than 24 hours, as it's very easy-to-read, and I totally fell for the characters. Kennedy and Nolan are united in grief--two kids who have been through so much for being so young.

This novel is creepy and often inexplicable, but the plot is really great. I was completely hooked. Kennedy and Nolan are tied together in interesting ways, and there's also a mystery-type story that unfolds as well. There are a couple of great twists that fully surprised me.

Overall, I really enjoyed this one. It's compelling and heartfelt, with strong characters and a sort of fun yet creepy undertone. 4 stars.

FINALLY!!!!
My first 5 stars book of the year.

I was getting worried 😂

Anyway, I loved this book from the writing style to the characters everything was really good.

I didn't know what to expect from the book I thought it was going to be purely mistery, but I found myself really excited that it contained a little bit of Sci-fi.

I loved Kennedy and Nolan. They were a dynamic duo. And uncle Joe absolutely has my heart.

What I find annoying in most thrillers now a days that it is all about the twists, it has to be the most twisted of them all and the more complexity the merrier. And the rest of the book doesn't matter as long as they give us 2 or 3 big unrealistic twists.

You won't find this in here, the book has a simple realistic twist that just fits in and makes you say "oh that makes sense"

Which I really appreciated and this is definitly one of my favourites.

And I think that Megan Miranda is one of favourite authors right now 😂💜

“sometimes i think he can sense something we don’t.
and sometimes i think how things can still come back, even after we stop looking for them.”

throughout this book, i kept having this nostalgic feeling while reading. i can’t quite place what it was about this book, perhaps the setting, but because of this, it will be secured in my mind and heart for quite some time.

this is a story about two teens who have both suffered through a tragedy. who are lost and are trying to figure out what went wrong in their lives. it’s a story about them looking for answers, and instead finding each other.

friends, this book is a wonderfully devastating mystery that you do not want to miss out on.

at first, this story starts off with a little bit of stranger things vibes, which is what hooked me from the beginning. but, as you keep reading, it becomes more of a tragically endearing story.

kennedy and nolan have both suffered through tragedies involving their siblings. they both believe they have evidence that might give them answers as to what happened with their siblings. kennedy posts on a website and asks if what she’s found is possible, while nolan has experienced the same thing and goes looking for answers on the internet, where he stumbles upon kennnedy’s post. from there, they chat to each other and eventually meet one another.

they both struggle with what to believe and feel as if they have no one who wants to listen to them. but, as they soon realize, they have each other. and they cling onto that so hard and they never let go of it. i really loved watching their relationship blossom into something beautiful. they both have problems but they’re always there for each other, and support one another. but it’s in a healthy way, and i really appreciated that.

i wasn’t sure what direction this story would take, but i guess that’s why it has a “mystery” sticker on the spine rather than a “sci-fi/fantasy” one. (i borrowed it from work aka my library) but, honestly, this has elements of both. it’s a mystery with a little bit of sci-fi sprinkled throughout. (hence the stranger things vibe)

overall, i loved this story and it’s one i will think about often. i definitely recommend this if you’re looking for something that will make you think, as well as characters who will tug on your heartstrings.

tw for: loss of a loved one, loss of a sibling, talk of missing people, murder.

They say the universe is constantly heading toward disorder, and I believe it. Walls go up, and walls come down. Buildings crumble, governments fall, civilizations collapse. Stars explode.
People live.
People die.
On and on it goes.
Everything falls apart.
Please don’t think I’m a pessimist. These are just the facts.

These are the first lines of the book. And they pulled me right into the story. I couldn't breathe fully until I finished the book, and then I couldn't stop thinking about it.

The story revolves around two teenagers Kennedy and Nolan. They both have experienced something horrible in their lives and now are looking for answers. Kennedy is looking to the stars and Nolan is looking to the supernatural. By the strange chain of events, these two are connected in pursuit of answers.

On the surface Come find me is a detective story, but if you dive deeper it's a story about two broken people trying to find closure in surroundings and each other. Nolan and Kennedy were so reliable, I couldn't stop thinking that I would do everything to help them solve the mystery if I could.

The story is shrouded in otherwordly vibe that whispers to a reader that anything is possible if only one would agree to play the universe's game of hide and seek. That everpresent feeling of fatality gripped me and couldn't let go until the last pages. And then I just cried.

Megan Miranda is my new favorite author. She has a way of touching a reader with her words. I am going to read more of her books, and I am sure I'll enjoy them.

Overall, Don't think a lot about the book's premise or its genre, just read it. The story has no age, really. No person will be untouched by it.

Highly recommended!

I wouldn't call this an entertaining book, it was certainly engaging but not fun to read. In fact, I found it quite blue.

Two teenagers whose lives have been shattered meet each other and are willing to believe they are receiving signals that will finally make everything make sense.

I guess I misread or misinterpreted what the book was about and was expecting some sci-fi or paranormal twist but I only found wishful thinking and real-life drama.

In spite of what I wrote before, I truly like the way Megan Miranda writes so I would recommend this novel to young adults and fans of the genre.

Initial post reading thoughts:

I got sucked into this one real quick. I spent the day Marie Kondo-ing my bedroom while listening to this audiobook and I was hooked. I couldn't wait to find out how it would all end!

--

What I Liked

The slow reveals. Right from the start, I needed answers. What happened to Kennedy’s family? What is this weird electronic signal? How are Kennedy and Nolan connected? The answers are not given to us easily. It took some time and patience, but the story slowly unravelled to reveal itself and it had me hooked the entire time. Did we get all of the answers? Not really, and I’ll talk about that later, but we got the ones that mattered most.

The mixed genres. Was this a sci-fi novel? A murder mystery? Or a contemporary? I’m not sure, but it definitely felt like a good mixture of all three! It had me wondering which route it was going to take the entire time I was reading. Was there some sort of unexplained force? Was it all just a coincidence? Who knows…

The lack of answers. As you could probably tell from the two paragraphs above, I may still seem slightly unsure of what it was that I just read and that’s because I am. I still don’t know if everything that happened and the way that Kennedy and Nolan were connected was all a coincidence or not, but I think that may have been the point. We aren’t supposed to know. Yes, that can be frustrating, but I also don’t mind a little open interpretation for an ending either.

--

What I Didn’t Like

The lack of answers? Yes, I mentioned that I liked this idea a whole two seconds ago. Does it also bother me? Slightly. I have a very logical way of thinking and part of me really wanted a solid answer, but I accept that I’m not going to get one. However, I really do wish the weird radio signal was explained…unless it was and I just missed it somehow.

--

Overall, I really enjoyed Come Find Me by Megan Miranda! I’ve read a few of her adult novels in the past and they’ve been some of my favourite thrillers! I was absolutely hooked from the start of this novel and I can’t wait to read more adult and YA thrillers from her in the future!

This is a story of two teenagers who have endured tragic loss. Nolan's brother is missing but he feels as if his brother is reaching out to him from beyond and he's determined to follow any and all leads. Kennedy's living with her uncle and finds a signal on her brother's equipment that doesn't make sense. Where is this pattern come from. Circumstances bring Nola and Kennedy together in their search as it appears things are too coincidental to not have a meaning and they are determined to find it.

The book starts off a bit slow but pick up towards the middle of the book. This is a story about grief, the aftermath of tragedies, how families cope and unstoppable need to two people who need closure but to do so, they need to look to each other, within themselves and at those surrounding them.

A proper sci-fi-ish, paranormal-ish, suspense that's a thrill for a younger audience. While the themes can get a bit morbid, I did enjoy the two different sides in how families are dealing with their own personal tragedies. Maybe it was because of the slower start that the ending felt a little bit rushed but for the most part, this one delivers.

I've always enjoyed all of Miranda's novels and will certainly read anything she puts out for us readers. Those who love the YA thriller genre should surely pick this one up - don't let the slow beginning deter you. The build up of these characters resonate.

Why oh why did you spend so much time building up a paranormal or sci-fi story only to literally do NOTHING with it??? I feel so misled. I was so excited about SETI...

Anyway, this is just a regular murder mystery with a bit of a psych thriller feel. There are no paranormal or aliens. Sigh. The lead-up and book description are terrible.

The story was fine, not bad, not earth-shattering. There was a nice twist.

What can I say? I’m trash for Megan Miranda.

Please be aware that this isn’t a supernatural thriller cause I can see a few people read the synopsis which does mislead you!

Now that is out the way.... this as a ya thriller definitely gave me all the thrills. A murder, a missing brother and two siblings determined to unravel the mysteries by following the signals...it was some good shit honestly.

There wasn’t much I didn’t love to be honest, this book does exactly what you expect.

This book was not what I thought it was going to be. And honestly I'm not sure how I felt about it. I expected some sort of crazy Sci-Fi thriller across the galaxies sort of thing. And while there was a mystery involved that was maybe a little thrilling, there was nothing out of this world.

Both our MC's have suffered tragic losses and it's in these losses that they discover these strange signs that seem to be coming from somewhere not on this earth. The two find each other on a message board not realizing they have more in common then they thought. Over the course of the book, Kennedy and Nolan go on this crazy mission to find out what brought them together and why. And what does it have to do with their own demons?

I did really like the mystery part of the book. I almost wish we could have gone more into the cases and the stories there as toward the end everything seemed to wrap up pretty quickly and perfectly. I also really liked how the author interpreted grief and how it's different for different people. This was very apparent with Kennedy and her uncle. We're so caught up in her grief and emotions that we almost forget her uncle lost people too. This was definitely a layered book but I felt like I just wanted a little more.

Overall, a nice, quick read. I would definitely check out more of Miranda's work in the future.

I am so excited to be writing this review. I am a huge Megan Miranda fan, I first read one of her books a few years back and I knew I needed to read more of her work pretty much right away. So I slowly started picking up more of her work, then sometime during this past year (I want to say it was in the summer) I heard she was writing a YA novel and I was like yes, please!! Give me!! Fast forward to the present when I was scrolling through my Libby account one night and bam there is the audiobook version of her YA novel! I instantly put it on my holds list and as soon as it came in I wanted to read it. Side note, I will be purchasing this book to add to my Megan Miranda collection it was amazing and I hope she writes more YA.

SPOILERS AHEAD

Kennedy has survived a tragedy, one night she snuck out to be with her boyfriend and upon sneaking back in she finds her brother gone and her mother murdered in her home. Upon her older brother's return, he is accused of the crime and Kennedy's entire life is forever turned upside down. Now she is living with Joe (I think he is a cousin if I remember right) he is still in college and barely an adult himself but he is all Kennedy has. They live in Joe's two-bedroom apartment near where her house was and they are still in the process of the trail and selling the house. Additionally, Kennedy spends a lot of her free time trying to keep up with her brother's radio telescope. Something he built before all of this stuff happened. Then one day she hears something on the radio and everything is changed.

Meanwhile, we have Nolan another teenager living nearby who has also suffered a tragedy. One day he was in the park with his family and his brother and their dog go missing. They still have not found his brother or the dog but ever since then, his parents have dedicated their lives to finding missing children. It has taken over not just their lives but their house as well. Nolan is also getting a signal and he thinks it could help to find his brother. He reaches out on a message board and ends up meeting Kennedy, from there the two end up meeting in person and working together to not only find his brother/ find out what happened but also to figure out what really happened that night at Kennedy's house.

I want to start by saying I love this story. I already said I am a huge Megan Miranda fan but I was blown away by this story. It was so captivating and engaging, I wanted to know the end to both cases. Additionally, the audiobook had different narrators for each of our main characters making the book even more captivating. I also thought Miranda did an excellent job bringing our two main characters and these very different cases together. I was riveted and wanted to more and more every time. I also had suspicions about certain things and I will say I kind of get them right but they were not exact which made this fun! I am giving this book five stars on Goodreads and if you have not yet you should definitely check out a Megan Miranda book.

this book was a total mess. it started out so great and i loved the premise but then it just spiralled into nothing good. i think the main problem was the pacing and control of information; there were so many moments where something that became suddenly crucial to the plot was just dropped in with no context or foreshadowing. the flow of the story was then not organic at all. i really wish i had liked this one better. bummed!

Come Find Me is one of those books that you are really better off going into it not knowing much ahead of time. It follows Kennedy whose mother was murdered. She notices a pattern on the radio telescope that she thinks may hold the key to what happened that night. We also follow Nolan whose older brother disappeared into thin air. He keeps getting signals from his brother's bedroom. He is convinced they are related to the disappearance.

This ended up being a pleasant surprise for me. I found myself drawn in right away. I also wasn't able to guess what was really going on; so the wrap-up was a surprise. I enjoyed both Kennedy and Nolan's characters separately as well as their developing friendship. The book gives a good and realistic look at grief and how it affects people differently. For instance, Nolan wants to know what happened to his brother. He devotes all of his free time to searching for him. But his parents end up starting a foundation that looks for other missing kids as well. The foundation takes up all of their time, as well as their home, to the point that it is an obsession.

I definitely recommend this book to any YA reader. It's a good mystery without anything graphic or triggering for younger YA readers.

This was a really good read.

I was drawn in right from the beginning, I wanted to know Kennedy's story.

The twists and turns kept me guessing right until the end. I enjoyed how interconnected Kennedy and Nolan turned out to be, and I was very happy that they found each other.

This was a really good mystery.

Come Find Me is a book that left me disappointed when initially I was looking forward to reading it in the beginning. With it's premise and usage of computers, paranormal readings, and even the cosmos, I was fully expecting an interesting ride with a mystery that seems to go beyond the beaten path. Sadly, however, that was not the case and I was really disappointed by the end.

Come Find Me follows two characters, Kennedy and Nolan who meet under strange circumstances. Kennedy hopes to keep her brother's search of the cosmos alive by looking into his notes and his radio telescope where she discovers a strange signal. Nolan, whose brother mysteriously vanished out of thin air, is doing some readings with some paranormal equipment when he gets a strange signal. They meet up and begin to wonder if this strange signal will answer the questions each have about their brothers.

Right off the bat, Come Find Me had a great start. The first half got me hooked from how Kennedy and Nolan are dealing with their issues as well as going through loss along with the mystery. I was intrigued by how Kennedy and Nolan were using computers and paranormal equipment in order to solve main mystery which I really liked because it reminded me a lot of Oxenfree, a game that uses radio signals to uncover some paranormal mysteries.

Then the second half happened and that's when things took a turn for the worse.

My expectations were dashed when I got to the second half. The mystery I was expecting turned out to be different than what I had thought and normally that's not a bad thing. If anything, that kind of twist should've surprised me. Instead of being surprised, I was confused and that confusion turned to disappointment when I realized how it will end.

Kennedy and Nolan also suffered from lack of character development to the point where they began to sound the same. In the beginning they were distinguishable but past the halfway mark whatever development they had halted and they became stagnant. And yes, there is a romance between them but I did not feel any chemistry between them.

What had started as a compelling mystery turned into something completely different that it made the experience all the more disappointing.

๏  My Thoughts ๏

This starts out as, and hints at in the blurb/synopsis, that it's kind of like the show Stranger Things...and I think a lot of people thought it would be supernatural like that show.  This might be slightly spoilery...but I'm going to say it anyway.  This is not like Stranger Things.  Honestly, though, you find that out in the first third of the book, so not too spoilery.

Come Find Me is more of a YA Mystery mixed with Realistic Fiction. With a splash of romance, science fiction, and supernatural.  Although, it does drag in the middle a bit...on Audio, I found it hardly noticeable.   Both the narrators were quite exceptional.  Overall, I kinda liked it.
