This book was written by my Pastor's wife. It is an incredible testimony of how to claim God's promotion in the midst of critical illness. Also has a perspective for me as a nurse in seeing the family's anguish and stress as they cope helplessly at the bedside. But we are not helpless with God's grace and promise through His Word for us and how He honors our faith!
This is an unusual book by Schaefer. She has been willing to open her life and that of her husband for us to see what happened to them and their family in the aftermath of her husband's tragic and almost fatal skiing accident. The book is a no holds barred telling of the story, her church and friends praying for the recovery. Awesome. Received from the Goodreads Giveaway. Thank you.

Ten Minutes to Live: A Story of danger, hope and healing written by Sheri Schaefer had me intrigued by the title alone. However, it was the story itself that was completely captivating from cover to cover, with the true story of the main character, Pastor Mike Schaefer, who experienced a life-threatening ski accident, and his fight for survival. This story captures the life changing moment when a husband is faced with death, and a family who refuses to give in, turning to the only thing that can give them hope, their faith in god and his almighty power. The author tells of the tests the couple faced throughout this critical time, including a vision of a devil who tells them to give up as there is no hope. However, their faith in God and his answer to their prayers was clearly overpowering and the strength of a family and its church uniting together gives a story of inspiration.
Sheri Schaefer has a very heart-warming writing style as you read Ten Minutes to Live: A story of danger, hope and healing. The book is a novella in length, so it was easy to read within one sitting, and the story itself was inspiring and engaging, and I did not want to put it down. The over-arching theme of family, strength and trust in god fills the pages, but more so, this book could help anyone who has faced potential tragedy in their family, and the power of a unity and hope. A very good read on all accounts and highly recommended.
