Step up to the plate with this counting book about America's favorite pastime. THE BASEBALL COUNTING BOOK is spring training for little sluggers. The count is zero to zero when the ump calls, "Play ball!" Nine innings later we've counted balls, strikes, players, fans, and more, all the way to twenty. No one strikes out with these fun rhymes. Little leaguers will find themselves counting their way through practice and pointing out all the new things they've learned about this great game when they watch the pro's on TV or at the parks. Early readers will hit a home run with this charming counting book.
I thought this book was a neat book for a child interested in baseball. I could see this book being especially useful for a child who is interested in sport genre books. In the book, the author hits on the rules of baseball and explains how many players are on the field, that the starting score of the games is zero, and that there are nine innings in a game.
A simple counting book that somehow manages to teach the rules and history of the game at the same time. Truly a marvelous book for baseball fans or for use in a baseball storytime. Highly recommended.
Possibly a good read aloud book. Good rhyme, changes rhythm too much. Has a lot of baseball jargon to learn. Even teaches about the inventor of the sport.
My son loves this book!!! I always tell him that he is going to be a professional baseball player and when we read the part about having a baseball card with a picture of [him], he and I both were exited. This book can be used for counting to 20. As an activity you can have students keep track of the score at there desk to keep them listening. Those who play baseball in the class or watch it, can make connections to this text.
This book is a great book to read to students. It teaches young students in K-1 to count up to 20 and a variation that could be done is to use the numbers in the book to teach addition and subtraction. The story can engage students who don't really like math, because it uses a sport to help them count. This book could also be used to talk about the student's favorite sports.
This is a fun book that focuses on early readers. The pictures are colorful and the flow of words with numbers is awesome, plus it is centered on baseball! I had fun reading it, so I know this would be a 'hit' for most kids learning to read and count. .
Counting book which features examples like 1-bat, 1-ball, 2-teams, 3-strikes. Can be extended to ask students which is their favorite sport or hobby and write some numbers associated with it.
