Mar 1, 2022 · Having grown up on all the Big Fours drums from the 1970s, today I can vouch that Rogers do sound better than the other three. I had Classic Ludwigs, good. Slingerlands, ok. Gretsch USA, not bad. I get these orphaned Rogers from 1978, and ive been wowed. They sing and can go from light/jazzy to low/thuddy easier than the other three.

Dec 22, 2009 · Rogers Holiday were top shelf drums in the 1960s. The BEST drums. Holiday was Rogers top line, followed by Tower, both lines used the same shells, the difference being the tower series used a clubdate lug design. Holiday shells prior to 1963 were three ply jasper shells with reinforcement rings.

Mar 28, 2011 · I think a vintage players kit that is 100% functional is worth $300-$500, but maybe higher being this is a Rogers. If all the lugs work and the drums have good edges and sound good buy it. Those are great drums and, in my opinion, if a players kit is what you seek the previous owner has already removed some of the faulty hardware.

May 5, 2024 · I have always admired Rogers drums, and own a set of Red Onyx Fullertons with Swiv-o-Matic hardware that I bought almost two years ago for a great price; $950, with a full set of hard cases, which I sold for $300. I just sold the 8x12 for $285, which means I got the set for $365! I also really like the Steel Grey Ripple wrap they had.

Sep 27, 2024 · Starting in 1978, Rogers began offering drums with 8-ply shells without reinforcement rings (made by Keller Products, Inc. of Manchester, NH) for its XP-8 line. They marked the beginning of relatively heavy, thick "stadium" shells that favored attack and projection over midrange tonality.

I ordered an 8-piece double bass set in July, 1975, and when they finally arrived in September, they all had the 1974 "B" serial numbers (either leftover tags from 1974 or I just received older stock)."
