Oct 23, 2007 · I used to "spring" the main shifter frame enough to free one of the tabs on this plate, allowing it to be removed so I could remove all the "guts" and lay them out on a table. I would then clean all the pieces, deburring all the edges of the plates and shims, regrease them and reassemble the shifter. Worked for me, but it was a "few" years ago.

I put the sparkomatic shifter my 65 chevy pickup then my 72 chevy pickup...Ripped the whole thin apart in that truck. it just fell apart on a 1 - 2 shift. but I saved the handle and adapted it to a Hurst shifter. My history with Hurst shifters goes back to when I swapped the three speed column shifter for a (used) Hurst Syncro-Loc in my first car, a 61 Impala at 15 years old in 1969.
Tips for actually disguising a Lokar shifter as a vintage shifter
Dec 11, 2023 · Normally in that situation I'd just do away with the gate and thread the handle for a black Hurst shift knob or something but being it'll be a 23" handle and have rod linkage I'd be worried about it jumping out of gear. And the standard Lokar shift knob looks like someone stole a knob of a cheap overseas forklift.

Jan 27, 2006 · Thanks again. Cobbled is right. Hurst website lists recon services at $90.00 or so. I would like to find the correct mounting brackets and install kit for a saginaw and go. That poor shifter on the right is a mess. I did find a close part number on the Hurst website and it showed a shifter with a reverse lockout arm or something.
