Aug 7, 2019 · There is one extremely good book on the Xinjiang revolt, which is Hodong Kim's Holy War in China, but there is no major English-language treatment of the Gansu-Shaanxi uprising. The best I can offer are Richard J. Smith and K.C. Liu's chapter in The Cambridge History of China vol. 11, and a few pages in Jonathan Lipman's Familiar Strangers .
