  abstract = {Coming to terms with a legacy of large scale past abuses are one of the ways in which a country can avoid reoccurrence of such abuses. Tunisia through the course of its authoritarian leadership and more remarkably during the Arab Spring witnessed large scaled gross human rights violations committed both by government forces and protesters. In an attempt to come to terms with these large scaled human rights violations and reinstate of sustainable Peace in Tunisia, the country passed in 2013 an organic law on Transitional Justice which led to the creation of the Truth and Dignity Commission. This paper aims at analyzing the impact of this commission on peace in Tunisia. This paper thus explains what a Truth and Reconciliation commission is all about, analyses the impact it has had on the peace situation in Tunisia and goes examine the challenges faced the commission which limits its impact sustainable peace in Tunisia. This paper is based on emerging body of qualitative research. Data was gotten from scholarly articles, newspaper articles, report of practitioners and internet sources with the case of Tunisia being a focal point as large scaled human rights violations have been committed the country which still needs to be redressed.},

  abstract = {This article examines the Philosophical Perspectives and Definitional Problems of human rights as a vehicle to robustly expand the critical and intellectual debate on the etymological origin as the nature, scope and utilitarian relevance of the subject. The methodology adopted in this research is mainly the doctrinal approach. This involves an examination of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 (as amended) and juxtaposing same with the content of the UDHR, ICCPR and ICESCR and African Charter on Human and Peoples Rights. The primary and secondary sources are used in this research. The doctrinal approach connotes paying attention to primary documents which involve extensive reading of Legislation, Treaties, Case laws of superior courts, especially the Supreme Courts and Tribunals, and drawing conclusions based on them. Secondary materials includes opinions of eminent jurists and scholars expressed in textbooks, articles published in both national and international journals, unpublished papers on the subject or related subjects were used. Also, non-doctrinal approach was employed relative to human rights violations in Nigeria. Interviews were conducted with officials of the National Human Rights Commission, charged with the responsibility of promoting and protecting human rights to gather information.   abstract = {The death penalty, sometimes known as capital punishment, is the ultimate sanction in every lawful and democratic society. However, if you kill a citizen in the name of the law, you have committed murder. We should stop looking for the perpetrator and instead concentrate on safeguarding against future abuse. Over a thousand people are executed in China every year, while in India, the death penalty is seldom used and sentences are often reduced to life in prison. There are similarities between the two countries in terms of procedure, capital punishment, and statutes, but in China, once the death sentence is imposed, it cannot be reversed. In light of these considerations, the United Nations UN has officially declared its opposition to capital punishment. The United Nations has also declared that executing an innocent person in the name of justice is incompatible with human dignity. Humans have no right to choose who lives and who dies. Thats why its preferable to take an alternative tack, like the reformative one, rather than executing a criminal so that he might make amends and go on with his life peacefully.   abstract = {Human rights violations among the people with mental disease werent an uncommon occurrence. the current study was aimed to match persons with psychiatric illness and their caregivers’ perceptions regarding the human rights status of individuals with mental disease within the community. 80 of the population suffering with mental disease lives in low and middle income LAMI countries WHO 2009, WHO 2016 estimated that globally over 450 million people 7 10 of the globe population plagued by mental disorders.   abstract = {Background Sustainability practice deals with the measurement, analysis and communication of interactions and links between social, environmental and economic issues constituting the three dimensions of sustainabilityAim This study empirically investigated the relationship between corporate social sustainability practice and financial performance of listed consumer goods firms’ in Nigeria. The study is vital as it portrays the extent to which corporate social sustainability practice influences firms’ performance. In order to determine the relationship between corporate social sustainability practice CSSP and firms’ performance, corporate social sustainability disclosure index by GRI was used while firms’ performance on the other hand was represented by return on equity ROE . Materials and Methods Four hypotheses were formulated to guide the investigation and the statistical test of parameter estimates was conducted using OLS regression model operated with STATA 15. Ex Post Facto design was adopted and data for the study were obtained from the Nigerian Stock Exchange Factbook and the published annual financial reports of the entire listed consumer goods firms on NSE with data spanning from 2016 2021. Results The finding generally indicates that human rights disclosure, labour practices and decent work disclosure, product responsibility disclosure and societal disclosure have significant influence on firms’ performance ROE at 1 5 significant level. Conclusion Based on the findings of the study, the study concludes that corporate social sustainability practice has positively improved firms performance over the years. Recommendation The study however suggests that firms should disclose more of this information in their annual reports in order to legitimize their operations by making public known about her commitment of business to contribute to sustainable economic development, working with employees, their families and the local communities as this disclosure is relevant for investors decision making.
