Featuring seasonal berries and ready-made ingredients, it's a simple dessert you can whip together in just 15 minutes. Red, White, and Blue Parfait Ingredients Here's the quick list of ingredients you'll need for these 4th of July parfaits. Yogurt: Purchased vanilla yogurt is our easy go-to for this recipe, but you can also opt for plain. Greek yogurt (vanilla or plain) and dairy-free also works here. Almond or Vanilla Extract: Just a touch of extract brings out the sweetness in the creamy mixture. If you don't have any on hand, you can omit. Frozen Whipped Topping: It's a shortcut ingredient that is folded into the yogurt for a light, fluffy result. For a vegan option, look for whipped coconut topping in the freezer section of larger grocery stores. Raspberries and Strawberries: Fresh raspberries and cut-up strawberries make up the red layers of the parfait. Blueberries: Juicy, plump blueberries are the blue layer of the flag-inspired parfaits. If you like, feel free to toss in some blackberries with the blueberries as well. How to Store Grapes So They Stay Crisp, According to Experts Dishes to Use for Red, White, and Blue Parfaits One recipe makes six 12-ounce parfaits. You can double the recipe for more, or you can do a smaller 6-ounce glass with just a few layers for a more bite-size dessert. To really show off those alternating red- and blue-striped layers, pick a tall clear drinking glass or dessert glass. You can also try a mason jar and wrap the rim in a patriotic ribbon for your party. Can You Make Parfaits Ahead? Yes, you can make parfaits up to 1 hour before serving, just keep them chilled in the refrigerator until ready to serve. The parfaits can chill for longer, but you may notice some juices from the fruits leak, which can seep red and blue into the creamy layers of the parfait. If you'd like to try making it ahead longer than an hour before serving, we recommend prepping your berries and cream topping and storing them in the refrigerator separately.
