Resonating Zither Strings Samples for Kontakt

The 2+2+1 is a 14-string zither with multiple bridges dividing each string into three segments. Two longer segments produce a lower-octave tone, while the shorter segment resonates in the octave above. Plucking any segment creates sympathetic vibrations across all segments, enhancing its warm, woody sound. The unique tonal quality arises from the unison and octave relationships between the segments and subtle tuning imperfections that create chorusing effects.

This library samples each note in two ways: one with the natural open-string sound and its sympathetic reverberations, and another with a plucked, damped sound. The damped sound is percussive but enriched by the resonance of the undamped segments. Two stereo microphone positions (Close and Contact mics) capture the sound, with features like upper and lower plucks, glisses, and up to 8x round robin and 6 velocity layers per note for dynamic variety. Custom FX presets and ambient sound-designed content offer creative flexibility, making 2+2+1 a rich addition to any sound palette.
