The MEC membership has been greatly disappointed with the new MEC logo. They feel alienated, that the minimalist approach loses the intent and history of the brand, and that it is too similar to other brands such as The Gap, TD Bank, and GM. (Interestingly, The Gap tried to re-brand itself in 2010, but the internet community rejected the project and it was later ditched by the company.)
I agree with the sentiments of MEC members (and am a member myself.) I created this logo to represent the best of both worlds. It integrates the legacy value of the iconic mountain and font, while at the same time allowing for a modern, urban feel which reflects the future intent of the brand's expansion strategy.

I hope you like it! Please feel free to share the images freely within the MEC community, all I ask is that you please cite me as the creator by including my twitter handle @SeanPerrin, or my website at seanperrin.ca.
Thank you,
