ADWA

Ethiopia – The African country that wasn’t colonized by the European. This does not mean that the Europeans never tried. As the 20th century approached, most of Africa had been carved up among the European powers. The kingdom of Italy(leader- Oreste Baratieri) tried to concur the Ethiopian empire(leader- Menelik II), but it didn’t go as expected by the Italians, as a result it led to a historic battle at Adwa, Ethiopia. The battle of Adwa gave Ethiopia the victory showing that colonialism can be fought by the other colonized African countries. Because of the battle, Ethiopia has her own alphabets, languages, culture, tradition and the winning spirit. It was a battle that changed the course of history, we always remember our forefathers for what they did. I designed this poster to remember the 120th anniversary of the victory.
