Hugh in Iraq.

Hugh is back in Iraq. He reported from Baghdad on PM on Monday. Here are his first thoughts, and photographs:

"It's more peaceful in Baghdad. But it's not secure. Anything can still happen here. And it does. But this visit began well. This was the BBC noticeboard when I arrived on Saturday:

But this was the noticeboard two days later:

And this was a shopping area near our office on Monday afternoon:

This is a car caught up in a car bomb explosion on the other side of the road.
Two people were killed, and fifteen injured.

And that's another vehicle wrecked by the explosion.

Mithal al-Alusi, MP, founder of the secular Iraqi Nation Party. He has had his immunity from prosecution stripped because he has visited Israel. He's been there twice. Israel is officially an 'enemy state'. The punishment can be death.
