Warming centers have been opened throughout Carroll County, “in response to forecasted low temperatures and hazardous wind chills,” according to a news release from the county government.

Those in the Westminster area may go to the city’s library, 50 E. Main St., from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. through Saturday. It will be open until 8 p.m. Thursday. The Citizen Services Office Building (10 Distillery Drive) will be open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and the Westminster Senior and Community Center (125 Stoner Ave.) is open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., through Friday.

Adults in need of nightly shelter may visit the Human Services Programs at 127 Stoner Ave., through Sunday morning.

Taneytown’s library (10 Grand Drive) will be open as a warming center from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. through Saturday. It will stay open until 8 p.m. Thursday. Taneytown Senior and Community Center (220 Roberts Mill Road) will be open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. through Friday.

The Eldersburg area offers its local library branch (6400 Hemlock Drive, Eldersburg) for warming from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. through Saturday. It will be open until 8 p.m. Thursday. The South Carroll Senior and Community Center (5928 Mineral Hill Road, Eldersburg) will be open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. through Friday.

In Mount Airy, the library at 705 Ridge Ave. will be available from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. through Saturday. It will be open until 8 p.m. Thursday. The Mount Airy Senior and Community Center at 703 Ridge Ave. will be available from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. through Friday.

Hampstead’s library (2255 Hanover Pike) will be open for warming from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. through Saturday; it will be open until 8 p.m. Thursday. The North Carroll Senior and Community Center (2328 Hanover Pike, Hampstead) will be open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. through Friday.

In Finksburg, the library at 2265 Old Westminster Pike will be open for warming from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. through Saturday, and until  8 p.m. Thursday.
