With a rich mix of influences from Indian, Chinese, Spanish and American cultures, Manila is the vibrant capital of the Philippines and its cultural and economic center. Thanks to the trade with Latin America during the three centuries of Spanish colonization, Manila became an important city, known as the "Pearl of the Orient."
Don’t miss a visit to the Spanish remains in the Intramuros district. Important landmarks in the area are the Malacañan Palace, the City Hall, and the Manila Cathedral.
Rizal Park is a national icon, while the Baywalk promenade is great for enjoying the well-known city sunsets. Ermita and Malate districts are famous for the nightlife, trendy shopping and restaurants, as well as for some luxury Manila hotels. Between the promenade and the districts, its easy to see why Filipinos call Manila “The City of Our Affections,” where the people's love affairs with fashion, music, entertainment and sheer fun are on bright and beautiful display.
Divisoria is a traditional district for local shopping, bargains and typical food. Binondo is the oldest Chinatown in the world.
For hotels in Manila near the airport, Ninoy Aquino International Airport is not far from Makati City.

Manila isn't a good place to visit, especially with the economy growing and everything getting more expensive. All locations need to be refurbished. The city is crowded, polluted, and unorganized. Makati is the only place you can relax, but it's very expensive. I can only recommend visiting Manila on New Year's Eve.

Manila is a beautiful city with lots of events and places to visit. There are museums, authentic restaurants, IKEA, S&R, and massive malls with local and international shops. Download the Grab App to get around easily. The Grab cars are clean, and drivers will only collect the amount when you book a car and give you the exact change.

Tourism as an industry needs more attention.
Tourism as an industry needs more attention. People are very friendly and helpful. Takes time to negotiate traffic as a pedestrian. River tow-path is great to explore, and free rides one side to the other. Not many pubs - or their equivalent, nor outside cafes.

We stayed in Binondo, which we liked.
We stayed in Binondo, which we liked. Intramuros is a short walk away and worth visiting.
Then we stayed in Makati, but we would not stay there again. Makati is similar to New York City, sky scrapers but with no Centrsl Park.
Makati did not feel safe. We experienced being approached in a busy street during daytime and was harassed by two youths. Nothing was taken but they placed their hands on our bag and bag strap. Personally we would avoid visiting Makati again. We were told by a local in Binondo not to bother visiting Makati as there is nothing there except tall buildings and shopping malls. But we had already booked accommodation.

Vibrant city with great food selections.
Vibrant city with great food selections. Heaven for shopping enthusiasts. Relatively affordable and great service anywhere from shops, restaurants and almost all establishments. Great street scenes but.can be hectic. Weather is great but too much humidity. Love the malls. It's a place every one should include in their bucket list to visit.

I must say it's excellent value for the money. I booked this hotel because I had a flight the next day, and its proximity to the airport was convenient. The hotel is located in a clean and safe area, close to a mall and a 7/11. The staff were friendly, and they allowed me to leave my luggage with them when I had a few hours before my flight. The water pressure was good too. The room is pretty basic but has everything you need if you're just looking for a place to stay overnight or need a simple spot to sleep in Manila.
I stayed at the Kingsford for just one night, I arrived late in Manila and had an early flight out the next day, and it's very close to the airport so cuts out the otherwise insanely long journey (traffic in Manila is really bad). Very comfortable hotel, the room was clean and had everything I expected and the restaurant was really good for dinner (one of the best meals I had in the Philippines). Breakfast was good, lots of choice.
We didn't have breakfast at the hotel we ate at the local shops in the area , we have stayed at Red Planet makati before so it was what we expected with the facilities , the room was clean and tidy the air conditioning kept us cool when we needed to be cool.the double bed was nice and very comfortable and the location of the hotel is ideal being so close to Manila Airport just a short trip away in a taxi
