On this morning excursion to the top of Mount Etna, you’ll have the chance to learn about the history and morphology of the volcano and take in the stunning vista from its summit.
You’ll set off from Piano Provenzana, the access point to Mount Etna’s northern slope, and first stop by the ruins of Hotel delle Betulle – the only building that was partially spared by the destructive 2002 eruption. As you climb further up, your expert guide will point out the various volcanic structures, including the craters formed throughout the centuries and the small cones created by the lava projecting onto the surface.
You’ll go as high as 2,100 metres, where you’ll be rewarded with sweeping views across the Gulf of Catania.
