La isla de Sicilia, la antigua Trinacria como la denominó Homero en su Odisea por su forma triangular. Lo estratégico de su posición, en el centro del mar Mediterráneo, y lo fértil de sus tierras, atrajeron a sus costas multitud de pueblos. Fenicios, Griegos, Cartagineses, Romanos, Bizantinos, Arabes y Normandos que en el siglo XI establecieron un reino gobernado por los Hauteville. En el siglo XII fueron substituidos por los Hohenstaufen y estos por los Aragoneses, tras el breve periodo angevino. Unos y otros dejaron su impronta e instituciones. Se analiza su historia, nobleza e heráldica.
La Serenísima República de Venecia durante sus casi mil años de existencia (IX/XIX) se nos presenta como un estado soberano europeo, en forma de república aristocrática de mercaderes, que regía un importante imperio ultramarino. Gobernada por un Dogo con un poder similar al de un monarca, aunque limitado por una serie de consejos mediante los cuales se buscaba el equilibrio de poder entre las principales familias. En el presente trabajo se estudia tanto su historia, como su organización política y social. Se analiza la figura del patrizio véneto, oligarquía de sangre que controlaba la vida pública. Para terminar explicando las peculiaridades de su heráldica.
La Confederacion Suiza a lo largo de su historia ha mostrado ser un país guerrero, proveedora de mercenarios a las principales potencias europeas, aunque adoptaría una neutralidad que le ha hecho famoso. Aunque no tuvo monarca alguno que lo rigiera, supo desarrollar una nobleza y heraldica propias.
Napoleón se reunió así de una nueva corte imperial que se reunía en fastuosas ceremonias. Muchos de sus miembros procedían de la milicia y los demás eran funcionarios al servicio del Imperio. Estos títulos imperiales no eran propiamente de nobleza, como los anteriormente concedidos por el rey, los cuales beneficiaban también a todos los descendientes ennobleciéndolos. Sino nobiliarquicos pues beneficiaban solo al titular aunque sin concederle la nobleza, proscrita en aquellos tiempos, y por lo tanto sin ninguna exención de las cargas y obligaciones de la sociedad. En el mismo Decreto de 30 de marzo 1808 por el que instauraban los títulos imperiales, se restablecía el derecho a exhibir armerías, prohibidas por la Revolución en 1790 por considerarlas marcas feudales. Aunque este derecho estaba reservado a los Titres de l’Empire, únicos que podían ejercerlo, bordándolo en sus vestiduras o decorando sus muebles, aunque de ellos solo los Príncipes y Duques podían blasonar las fachadas de sus casas. En las mismas Lettres Patentes por las que se concedía el título se describía el escudo que debía ostentar, sin poder introducir modificación alguna en él.
Serbia a lo largo de su historia ha atravesado muy diversas situaciones, desde ser un Principado soberano en el siglo VIII para convertirse en un Imperio Ilírico multietnico en el siglo XIV que dominaba la península Balcánica. Para terminar siendo derrotado e invadido por los turcos y pasar a ser una provincia más del Imperio Otomano. En el siglo XIX de va a producir una fuerte reacción nacionalista que se rebelará contra los turcos y permitirá constituir un Reino Independiente, Yogoeslavia, que acabará dominado por los comunistas de Tito. Al fin logrará su libertad, tars la caida del bloque soviético, disgregándose en varias nacionalidades enfrentadas en cruenta guerra. Todo ello afectará al desarrollo de su nobleza y su heráldica.

GRECIA CLASICA: Su Historia, Nobleza y HeraldicaDorios y Jonios, invadieron el archipiélago Egeo conquistándolo. Tenían en común que eran greco-parlantes, aunque todavía no se llamaban así mismos griegos, pues este apelativo lo inventarían siglos más tarde los romanos, sino helenos. Se establecieron en dife-rentes regiones que fueron colonizando sometiendo a la población local. Las primeras noticias nos vienen de Homero en sus dos grandes obras, la Ilíada y la Odisea, redactadas a partir de recuerdos de la época obscura. Nos describe un mundo de reyes y héroes que compiten entre sí, con la ayuda material de los diferentes dioses protectores, agrupados en phylai (clanes), regidos por un basileio (jefe guerrero), auxi-liado por sus hetairoi o compañeros de armas. Nos relata los enfrentamientos constantes entre los he-lenos y como lograron unirse para conquistar la rica y poderosa ciudad asiática de Troya. Tras la guerra retornaron a sus lugares de origen, cambiados por la contienda, imbuidos por su propio prestigio militar obtenido por la fuerza que les daba su armamento (hoplitas), integrados en una nueva táctica (falange). Conformando una nueva clase social que reclamó, mediante el empleo de la fuerza, reformas políticas que afianzasen su poder. Es la llamada Revolución Hoplita que provocará que los pequeños núcleos urbanos (oykos) fueran obligados a agruparse (sino-yquismo) y surgieran así las Poleis (ciudades-estado). La historia de la Grecia Clásica se inicia a finales de la llamada Edad Obscura (Siglos XI al VIII a.C.). Periodo del qué no se ha conservado testimonio arquitectó-nico alguno y que sucedió a la caída de la civilización micénica. Tras ella la primera referencia que tene-mos es la celebración de los Juegos Olímpicos el año 776 a.C., fecha que sería tomada como partida para datar el inicio de la historia de Grecia, al igual que nosotros tomamos el nacimiento de Jesucristo.
En la Sociedad Estamental (Ancienme Regime), la nobleza francesa constituía el Segundo Estado, frente a los roturiers (plebeyos) que formaban el Tercero, y los religieux (religiosos) el Primero. Era un estado jurídico que concedía múltiples privilegios fiscales, funcionales, militares, políticos, procesales y ceremoniales. Francia fue de los primeros países en que apareció la heráldica a mediados del siglo XII, extendiéndose su uso entre las grandes familias feudales que, mediante un complejo sistema de brisuras, se sirvieron de ella para distinguir las diversas ramas de su linaje. Siendo organizada por los Rois d’Armes que confeccionaron Armoires o catálogos de blasones. Un siglo más tarde su uso trascendería a todos los grupos sociales: caballeros, damas, religiosos, burgueses y menestrales, gremios y ciudades.
