Bio-ecological drainage system (BIOECODS) for water quantity and quality control2003 •
"Land use change in urbanizing watersheds can have a significant impact on hydrologic and hydraulic process as well a degradation of water quality on receiving waters. The Bio‐Ecological Drainage System (BIOECODS) consists of elements of storage, flow retarding and infiltration engineering. Swales, dry ponds, detention ponds and wetland are the main components of BIOECODS that function as flow attenuation and water quality treatment devices. The BIOECODS is a pilot project that meets the requirements of the Stormwater Management Manual for Malaysia and has been constructed at the Engineering Campus of the University Science Malaysia, Nibong Tebal, Penang. BIOECODS represents an alternative to the traditional hard engineering‐based drainage system to manage stormwater quantity and quality for urban areas. This article discusses how the BIOECODS could be implemented to control stormwater quantity from an urbanized area and reduce the water quality impact on the receiving water."

Sustainable Urban Drainage System (SUDS) – Malaysian Experiences2008 •
Sustainable Urban Drainage Systems (SUDS) have been used widely in USA, Europe, Japan and Australia to name a few developed countries. SUDS are currently the recommended techniques towards solving three major problems in Malaysia which are flash flood, water scarcity and water pollution. Previously, most of the stormwater runoff especially in urban areas is catered by conventional drainage systems that carry runoff to the downstream by rapid disposal concept. In order to manage these three major problems, SUDS provide long term solutions to urban drainage management. A number of recently completed SUDS projects in Malaysia will be discussed

SUSTAINABLE DRAINAGE SYSTEM FROM URBAN DESIGNER PERCEPTION IN UNIVERSITI TEKNOLOGI MALAYSIA KUALA LUMPUR CAMPUS, The International Joint Conference SENVAR-iNTA-AVAN 2015, 24-26 November 2015, JohorThis paper outlines the national approach of stormwater management in Malaysia. In order to cure stormwater runoff in the campus, a conventional drainage system has been designed to provide the fastest possible transport of stormwater runoff out of the catchments into the receiving water. Conventional drainage system, unfortunately has led to increase the occurrence of overflowing stormwater in the areas of UTM KL Campus. Therefore conventional drainage system is no longer an effective measure in solving stormwater runoff .Due to this problem, increasing the public awareness to the negative impact of urban stormwater runoff to the environment has led the Department of Irrigation and Drainage (DID) to introduce the new Urban Stormwater Management Manual for Malaysia and Best Management Practices (BMPs) in 1975. Therefore this study had been carried out with the aim to determine the important element of a sustainable drainage system in a campus that can be applied in UTM KL Campus. The study was conducted by using observations and semi-structure interview form expert panel in UTM KL. The findings indicated in the campus are still at the initial stage in adopting the sustainable drainage system concept. This study has been concluded that there is a serious need for the establishment of a clear guidance for a sustainable drainage system in UTM KL campus. Stormwater management is the process of departing from the traditional approach which is currently going on in the UTM KL Campus to a more ecological and sustainable drainage system which is in peace with the nature. UTM KL must put a lot of efforts to improve the conventional drainage system to a more sustainable drainage system if they want towards achieving a sustainable campus status in the future.

ABSTRACT Teaching mathematics in primary schools with developing learner's competence at the center According to new trends in mathematics education, the new modern mathematics curriculum requires of learners not only knowledge and skills but also good attitude and interest in learning mathematics. Integrated with the development of global education, mathematics education in Vietnam is aiming at renewing the goal of teaching with developing learner's competence at the center. The article identifies typical mathematic competences of which need to be developed for primary students and teaching principles; in light of which it proposes the procedure in organizing teaching activities with developing learner's competence at the center through a specific lesson.
