Computerized Point of Sale System of Thera Drug Store ______________________________________________________________________ RESEARCH PROPOSAL Name of the Proponents: Carino,Jeannelyn Fortin,Jeremie Impon,Jake Magsino,Mark Miijares,Cris Berlyn Perez,John Gil Sacil,Rhonald Dean Vergara,Eugene Victor,Jhastine Pauline Research Proposal: Computerized Transaction Monitoring System for Thera Drug Store. Area of Investigation: A Computerized Point of Sale System for Thera Drug Store, located at Taytay Public Market, Taytay Rizal.It was established in year of October 1998, owned by Mr.Aristotle Lingad. Thera Drug Store is a type of drug store where they sell medicines, personal hygiene, human basic needs, and beauty products. The store opens at 8am to 8pm. They import their products from the main branch. They still using the manual system of recording and monitoring of their incomes, outcomes, and inventories. Because of this, they encounter unnecessary things in their business like having an inaccurate and inconsistent information, less efficient and effective data management, they don’t have receipt in their payment transactions, their system is not a user friendly, their transaction of payment and recordings is slow because they only used pen, logbooks and papers, their data keeper which is the logbooks sometimes misplaced or it totally lost and it don’t have backup and recovery and it is sometimes seen by unauthorized persons. Because of this, we the proponents figured out that the company need a system that can keep and monitor a complete detail, can make an accurate information and consistent data, an effective and efficient system, can provide receipt and copy of receipts in every payment transactions, a user friendly, secured and has a backup and recovery files, a system that can fasten their business and a system that can only be handled by an authorized personnel , a system that will avoid problematic things and situations in their business. And we thought we solve the problem by developing a Computerized Transaction Monitoring System. Modules that will cover the study: Homepage This module is the main form or main window of the system. Manage Account This module shows the registry information and sign-up Logout This module will end up by clicking logout command Transaction This module is where the transactions are made, from availing on or more of purchasing the items, the chosen items will go the cart window and ready for the payment. The cashier can also cancel the items that have been added to cart through the void button. Inventory This module is the one that can stock in and stock out. In this module you can see the product that expired. Authorized user will be using back-up procedure for the database so even the program or if the system crashed there will have a database to transfer to another program. You can see all the items are being managed. Only the admin can access this module. It has buttons like edit which where the admin can edit the price, name of the product and size. There are also options like sales report which will direct the admin to the sales report module. Point of Sale This module is the one who manage the transaction in the system. In this module you can access the entire product that customer can buy and you can see how many product or stocks are still in there. This will show the total amount of the items and the cashier will input the bills that the customer given. The system will automatically compute the change needed if the amount entered is insufficient and the payment button will disabled. After the payment a window will pop out showing the transactions receipt. This module is where the transactions are made, from availing on or more of purchasing the items, the chosen items will go the cart window and ready for the payment. The cashier can also cancel the items that have been added to cart through the void button. Report Only the administrator is allowed to access the system. This page will show the business sales. The admin can view the daily, weekly, and monthly sales report. System Maintenance In this section, only the admin can create a new user in the administrator. If there’s a problem occurred they can contact a programmer that can troubleshoot the issue that the user may encounter in the system. Administrator user will be using like back-up procedure to prevent any database problems and errors. Security: There are three (3) level of access, first admin and secondary admin that has a full privileges to access payment and services modules and cashier level privilege is to access services form only. Admin users in this level will have the full control all the transaction in the system. Secondary admin level is the backup user in case the admin is not available or busy and the second admin in this level have a full access like the first admin level. Cashier level privilege is to access the Services form only. Login and password Only three (3) attempts on trying to access the account. Once the user uses three (3) attempts the system block security will display and the login button will disabled then the admin code will show. In this scenario, call the administrator immediately. Only the admin can access the admin code which is provided by the user maintenance to retrieve. And it also has forgot password if the cashier did not know the admin code and if the admins have an important meetings the cashier can’t access the system block and it will have forgot password to change the password and it provide secret questions to verify the account. Forgot Password Forgot password use to change the password if the user can’t access the system and if they forgot their passwords. Reason for choice of project: Nowadays many businesses encounter many problems in their existing Manual System. The objectives of the proponents study is to eliminate data redundancy, to make the management system more efficient, data consistency, and it uses less of time for accessing data about the client at the same time makes the process become faster. Target user/Beneficiaries: The benefits, Are easier tracking down the purchases, expenses and inventory records, Uses less of time for accessing data or information, The customer will be more comfortable for purchasing and especially all data or information that currently written in logbook and stored in drawers will be transfer to the database system that will be safely saved in the computer. Similarities Development tool be used: The proponents decided to use the Visual Basic 6.0, Visual Basic is a third-generation event-driven programming language and integrated development environment (IDE) from Microsoft for its COM programming model first released in 1991 and declared legacy in 2008. Microsoft intended Visual Basic to be relatively easy to learn and use. Microsoft Access will be used as back end for database. Microsoft Access is a database management system (DBMS) from Microsoft that combines the relational Microsoft Jet Database Engine with a graphical user interface and software-development tools.
